Monday, Monday

Maya had a restless night which translated into me also having one. She’s been a bit discombobulated since the move, more so since we lost Murphy, so I’m granting her grace. Even so, going outside three times between midnight and 5 a.m. when I finally just got up, is excessive—especially when at least one of those times was just a wander around in the snow-covered backyard. I’m tired this morning and, if I was a napping person, would say one was in the cards today. But I’m not, and it isn’t.

Gerry’s feeling under the weather, so we’ll likely have another slow day today. That’s okay with me. I’ve got a piece to finish for my writing group and I’m continuing with edits on Living Liminal. I’m also feeling a tug to slap some paint around, but we’ll see. I need to organize my art area before I do anything creative there.

With Gerry feeling out of sorts, we didn’t go out to church yesterday (continuing the search for a new church home), so we popped in via livestream at our Kamloops church. It’s a gift of the past few years to have the ability to do this.

The girls popped over to pick up some things and drop off others. Makiya headed for the fridge right away, and Laurinda, using her decorator’s eye, tweaked the arrangement on my living room shelves. I’ve had the toughest time figuring out what to put there and how to arrange things so they’re aesthetically pleasing  and not overly busy. I think we’re there now, with an assortment of photographs and a handful of other small things. I need to take a photo so I can put things back after they’re taken down for dusting,

It was a carb-y weekend thanks, in part, to the delicious cinnamon buns Gerry brought home on Saturday morning from the Maple Leaf Bakery, a short hop, skip, and jump from our home (one can’t just buy two, he says, when it’s more cost effective to buy six). That bakery is always tempting me with Facebook posts of fresh baked goods, and we can’t cross the 4th Avenue bridge without thinking about stopping there. It’s evil, I tell ya. Evil.

Anyway, thanks to the carb fest, I’ll be cooking up something healthy today. Soup, maybe (oooo….soup with homemade bread!). Okay, maybe not soup. Regardless, I’m looking forward to another homey Moose Jaw-y day whatever she may bring.
